One of our local Christian radio stations keeps broadcasting, “We’re leaving the ‘thanks’ in Thanksgiving and not playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving.” What’s up with that?
Okay, I will confess here in the open that I listen to Christmas music all year long. Now, I don’t listen every day. But if I need a pick-me-up or if it’s too hot to breathe here in Texas then I turn on, “Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!” Joy to the World just fills my heart with hope. I will not tell you how many Christmas cds I have in my collection. It’s embarrassing! When I got married in June 1995, I wanted the organist to play Joy to the World as we left the sanctuary. My to-be hubby said, “No.” Come to find out twelve years later, he thought I meant, “Jeremiah was a bull frog …” Sigh.
Anyway, let it be known as I shout it from the rooftops of blogland that it’s okay to play Christmas music before Thanksgiving! It does not take away from Thanksgiving or giving thanks!
Sorry for the rant (aren’t you glad they’re few and far between!) and God bless you and keep you this holiday season!
