Confessions of a Trekkie

When I was a kid, my sister and I used to watch Star Trek in the afternoon. We would even tape record the show so we could listen to it again and again. This was pre-VCR days. Am I dating myself or what? My poor day would come home from a long day at work and holler, “How are you?” We’d be recording and would go, “Shhhhhhhh!” He never did understand what we were doing. I’m not sure I do today. When I was in 6th grade and my sister was 16 and just driving, we went to a Star Trek Convention. Yep. Embarrassing, isn’t it? Funny thing was, they even sold cassette taped recordings of the show. Of course, we bought some. Well, fast forward to the reinvention of Star Trek and the Next Generation. My sister was a fan. I wasn’t so much. I saw a couple of the films but never really connected with the new characters. And NOW! There’s a new Star Trek generation where they go back to the original characters and their beginning at Star Fleet Academy. So I saw the film over the weekend. It was a blast. Lots of fun. Really loved it. I’m sure there will be more films in the future. And I’ll be there watching. Live long and prosper.

So are you a Trekkie too?
