Anna, so sorry for your losses but so glad your son is okay. I love praying a hedge of protection around my kids. I so believe believers have angels who help protect us. Thanks for sharing your story!

My fear was always being alone after my dad died when I was only 15. I worried my mom would die and I would be alone. She did die when I was 31, but my fears were taken away because 3 years before she passed I met and married my husband and my mom got to spend the last 18 months of her life watching her grandson. We lived with her to help her and her to help us it worked out so great. I miss my mom daily still even though that was in 1985. But she and my dad are our angels, with us daily. My son got hit in Feb. By a bus almost head on and his car totaled. He had a hurt wrist and dislocated pelvis but I know our Lord had my mom and dad; our Angels riding with him that day as always. My fear of being alone was taken away by a loving husband and a super son.

I have a terrifying fear of bats, going back to when I was a small child. When my daughter was in the first grade we took a field trip to the zoo. As we were standing under an overhang watching the giraffes I looked up to see a clutch of bats hanging a foot from my head. Because I was in charge of 5 1st graders I knew I could not follow my instincts and run screaming from the area, so I calmly said lets go and see the elephants first one there wins. GO.

Just one fear? Many years ago, I was married, living in West Virginia, and we weren't making a lot of money. I went from working at a small convenience store (paying half my measly earnings to daycare, mind you) to working at a small locally-owned restaurant. I learned quickly and became a good enough server to run both sides by myself (smoking & non smoking). My stepsister encouraged me to get a job at Olive Garden instead, so I could make better tips, but I was really scared of carrying those huge trays of food! What if i dropped one?? What if I dropped one... on a person?! She kept encouraging me to apply, so I finally put in my application at the O.G. and was hired. It was a great temporary job and my first experience in sales. Our manager actually told us that. (Learning communication skills, finding out what people want & helping them get it, upselling alcoholic drinks to brand-name, helping people choose appetizers, desserts, etc.) And those huge, "scary" trays were actually very manageable & quite handy! I'm so thankful to have people in my life to help me overcome my fears, no matter how silly or insignificant they may seem to others. You see, my Mom passed away from cancer when I was a teen, and as an introverted young girl raised by introverted parents, I needed someone to believe in me. Funny how I didn't mention the fear of being without a mom. I got to pick my stepmom (sort of) and she has 2 daughters, one of whom is a great mentor & encourager for me. Jehovah Jireh provides... always!
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7

Jennifer
